For clearly defined projects, we prefer to work with a fixed price based on a quote. For more complex or ongoing projects, effort-based billing may make more sense. We discuss which model fits best together in the initial meeting. Should the expected costs change significantly during development, we communicate this early and openly. Can I communicate my budget upfront? Yes, and we actively encourage it. It helps us enormously. This helps both sides avoid unnecessary detours. Can a project be split into phases to manage the budget? Yes, and we actually recommend this in most cases. Every project at SchäferSoft is divided into meaningful phases, from conception through development to launch. If desired, each phase is budgeted and billed separately, so you retain full cost control and can respond flexibly to changes. Are there ongoing costs after handover? That depends on which services you require after launch. If SchäferSoft handles hosting, security maintenance or technical management, corresponding ongoing costs apply. Further development and new features are quoted separately. If you choose none of these services, the software belongs 100% to you after project completion, with no further obligations. What technologies does SchäferSoft use? We choose the technology based on the requirements of the project, not the other way around. For web applications, we primarily use PHP (Laravel) as well as Node.js with React or Svelte. Mobile apps are developed with Swift (iOS) or React Native (cross-platform). For desktop applications, we use .NET or Tauri. In the area of AI and automation, we work with Python, LLM APIs (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic), workflow automations and custom data processing pipelines. Where appropriate, we use proven open-source frameworks as a foundation. Do I receive the full source code after the project? Yes. After successful project completion, you receive the complete source code of your solution including documentation upon request. The code belongs to you. You can use it internally, hand it over to another developer or further develop it yourself. However, we accept no liability for changes not made by SchäferSoft. Can my existing software be extended or replaced? In many cases, yes. Whether an extension or a complete replacement makes sense depends on the condition and architecture of the existing solution. We analyse the starting situation together with you and recommend the path that makes the most technical and economic sense, without any hidden agenda. How is the security of the developed software ensured? Security is not an afterthought but part of the development process. We rely on proven security practices, up-to-date frameworks and regular security audits. Security updates are included free of charge for the first 2 years after project completion. Thereafter, this service can be continued as part of a maintenance model if desired. Will the software run on my existing infrastructure? We clarify this together in the initial meeting. In many cases, the new solution can be seamlessly integrated into your existing infrastructure. If this does not make technical sense or carries risks, we address this openly and present alternatives, whether your own hardware, cloud or a hybrid model. What is included in the price after handover? Included in the project price are the complete source code, clean documentation, an introduction for your team, 2 years of free security updates and 1 year of bug fixes. After project completion, you receive a personal point of contact and do not have to navigate a ticketing system.
